26/09/10 ALL The under 13's Tigers won the  Fair Play Award for  their age group in the
HBSFL  in the 2009/2010 season.  The team was then nominated for further fair
play awards and were very proud to win the Fair Play Award in their section run
by  the FA.
All the Boys who were members of last years Under 13's team received a medal.

The players, managers and parents of the team were all extremely proud to win
this award.

Winning this award was a fantastic achievement for the Whitestar Tigers
team. Since the team was established as a mini soccer team in 2005  the Tigers
team have always striven to play football in both a competive manner and just as
importantly in the right spirit.

join me in congratulating the U14 Lions on their promotion from Wyke to Drypool.

Having finished third in Wyke Division for the previous two seasons, they knew they had the potential to get promotion, but with 6 matches to go, it looked like they were destined for the same again.

They had to win their last 6 matches, including against the division leaders, Bridlington, and hope that Westella & Willerby slip up.

AND THEY DID IT!!!!!  3rd time lucky?!!!!

A victory in the last match against Springhead secured 2nd place, and a very well deserved promotion.

Congratulations to all the boys and parents, but especially to Mark Shipman and Gerry Johnstone for taking them all the way.

Credit should also go to Alan Hemingway, Jon Swift and Phil Lakin for their contribution over the previous seasons to build a strong team ethic, with skill to match.

Well done to you all.

Good luck in Drypool !!

Cheers

Rod

And that, after playing six, forty minute matches at a tournament in Skegness at the weekend and coming runners-up from the 20 teams that entered, losing narrowly, 1-2 in the final.

A huge well done to all the players, manager, coaches, volunteers and supporters, from the rest of Beverley WhiteStar!! You deserve it!!

Hi Rod

Many thanks for your E Mail and comments.

I was really proud and honoured to receive the letter yesterday with the news

Everyone involved in grassroots football at youth level does a great job in providing a real way forward for kids, and help in there development as they grow into adults.

This is shown once again to a great extent by your own Club winning the Charter Standard Award, to do this 2 years running is a great achievement and on behalf of the League, many congratulations, and best wishes for the next stage.

On behalf of Beverley WhiteStar and our Executive Committee, I would like to congratulate you on your very well deserved FA Community Award for Outstanding Contribution.

This is wholly justified for the huge amount of effort that you put in to run the Hull Boys Sunday Football League, but also the support that you give individuals and teams.

Your achievement of getting the Hull Boys Sunday Football League to be the first Charter Standard League in the Country was a great reflection of your work.

We look forward to many more years of working under your guidance.

Congratulations, Keith.

The eagled-eyed amongst you will have spotted that the Club has had another success!!

Well, more an individual, than the Club.

Take a look at the ERCFA home page and you’ll see this item.

http://www.eastridingfa.com/News/2010/04/EastRidingCountyFA-CommunityAwardWinners2010.htm

You will discover that the ERCFA Coach of the Year Award was won by

Alan Hemingway of Beverley WhiteStar!!!

Congratulations, Alan!! This is excellent news, and in my opinion, Alan is a worthy winner.

For those of you who don’t know Alan, he has been coaching the Lions in previous seasons but now he coaches the Academy and the Rhinos. His son plays for Beverley Town!!

Alan, who sits on the Executive Committee, is qualified to FA Level 2 and a qualified Disability Coach, has also helped out other teams with new coaching sessions when they have been looking for inspiration.

Please join me in congratulating Alan on this great honour.

Thank you.

For me, Alan is a great example of all the managers, coaches and volunteers in Beverley WhiteStar who all put in a great deal of time and effort to develop the young and older players both in football and their attitude and respect towards others. Thank you to you all.

Cheers

Hi Everyone

I have some more good news to communicate to you.

You saw the recent call for nominations for the ERCFA Community Awards, yes?

Well, Beverley WhiteStar FC were nominated for the Charter Standard Community Club category.

…and we won!!!

Were are now: ERCFA Charter Standard Community Club of the Year 2010

This is all down to you. Thank you!!

I’ve said it before, but this award definitely means its worth saying again.

This Club is based on a strong group of passionate volunteers who do a superb job of coaching and nurturing the players to be good footballing team players who show great respect to fellow players, volunteers and officials. The result is a safe, supportive and fun environment for all players, but especially the children, to develop.

As a result of the local award, we will be put forward to the Yorkshire Regional Awards. We await the view of that judging panel.

Thank you again for all of your contributions in making Beverley WhiteStar a great Club to be part of.

Cheers

Rod

26/11/09 ALL At the recent Hull and East Yorkshire Sporting Heroes and Champions Awards, Beverley WhiteStar had been nominated in the top three for Amateur Club of the Year. Unfortunately we were runners up to Hull Cycle Speedway Club, but this is still an excellent reflection on the contribution that everyone in the Club has made to ensure the solid progress over the past two years.

02/09/09 ALL

I am extremely proud to be able to announce yet another award to be given to one of the Beverley WhiteStar teams.

We have just been informed by the Secretary of the ERCFA that the girls of last years U10 Falcons have been awarded the 2009 ERCFA Fair Play Award!!!

This award is for every single team that is affiliated to the ERCFA. So that’s all girls teams, all boys teams, all women’s teams and all men’s teams!!! That’s a lot of teams!!

This is a superb achievement for a team that has only just finished its first year of existence!

Bear in mind that some of the girls had hardly kicked a football before never mind developed skills or played in a match when they joined in August 2008!!

Not only that, but their Managers, Paul Brittain and Renato Merolli were also brand new to football management and coaching.

And of course, Paul, Renato and the girls are fully and passionately supported by all the parents and relatives on the touchline every week.

For those of you who have followed the U10 Falcons results last year, you will be aware that they were unable to win or draw any of their league matches. But they were getting VERY close by the end of the season!!! Despite this, the passion of the players to develop their skills has got stronger and stronger, which is a brilliant reflection on their excellent attitude to the game.

Please join me in a huge congratulation to all of girls, managers, coaches, volunteers, parents and spectators of the U10 Falcons on this very prestigious award.

For those of you who wish to follow their progress this season, the U10 Falcons have split into two because of differences in age and have now formed the U12 Falcons and the U10 Hawks.

That now makes it TWO Fair Play Awards this year for the Club, following on from the success of the U15 in the HBSFL Fair Play Awards.

Again, a great reflection on the excellent attitude to good football and fair play taken by all of the teams in Beverley WhiteStar.

Keep it going!

ROD

On behalf of the League, can I congratulate all at Beverley Whitestar on winning the National Charter Standard Club of the Year Award.

This is a fantastic achievement for everyone connected with the Club and the area.

I know how much work has to go into these things, and was only saying to someone last week how well you had done in getting the regional award, so now to get the National Award is fantastic.

I assume that Graham will be organising some good publicity for you, and hopefully this should also appear on the FA website. I will keep an eye open for any press releases, so we can also put it on the Hull Boys League Website.

Sproatley Tournament

Whitestar Rams Triumph In The Sun!

Oscar Cavil kept his cool to slot home the vital penalty to give Whitestar Rams victory in the U10 Sproatley tournament.  After topping their group following 5 tough league fixtures Rams went on to face Withernsea in the semi final before meeting hosts Sproatley in the final.

Rams had a peach of start and overcame Thorngumbald in their first match 3 nil.  Great midfield play by Jake Holmes and Dale Dennett provided many chances for Nick Moody.  In game 2 Sproatley ‘A’ were on fine form and took the game to Beverley.  Rams were solid at the back with Will Harrison and Oscar Cavill but between the sticks Lewis Richardson had a heroic performance making some superb saves.  Further group victories against Withernsea A & B were capped with good performances from Ben Hearfield and Ben Waudby to set up a nail biting final group game with Skirlaugh.  Rams went one down but punched their way back in the game which was won when Nick Moody cleverly clipped home a long range pass from Dale Dennett.

Into the semis Rams were drawn against Withernsea and after a tense game Nick Moody provided a valuable winner from the head.

Rams made the final and both Sproatley and Beverley tired in the heat.  An even end to end game gave both teams the chance of glory but the game remained 0-0 after extra time and so on to the dreaded penalties.  Following great saves from Lewis Richardson Oscar Cavil was faced with a sudden death seventh penalty.  Tension mounted but Oscar coolly stroked home to give Rams a joyous day.  Well done to the whole team for the performance.  It’s on to Cottingham next week.

Good news folks!!

As recognition of all our hard work and great progress last year, we were nominated as one of the Top 5 Clubs in East Yorkshire as part of the East Riding Councils Annual Sport and Play Awards.

As a result, we were invited to attend an Award Ceremony on Friday night, 27th March, at Beverley Leisure Complex.

Treasurer, Debbie Fulton and myself attended on behalf of the Club and received a Highly Commended Certificate from Councilor Bryan Pearson.

Being nominated for the Top 5, we also had the chance to be selected as the Overall Top Club.

Unfortunately we came joint 3rd, but the certificate is still an excellent reflection of all the hard work that you put into the Club to make the teams successful and enjoyable to be part of, for all involved.  This recognition is for you!!

I can tell you that it was a great honour to be in the presence of some fantastic performers.

For example..

The overall Talented Performer Winner set a new UK Hammer Record at U15 level and is ranked No1 in the UK for Shot Putt, Discuss and Hammer.

One of the contenders is U14 British Judo Champion…and she’s only 12!! And another contender represents Great Britain at U18 Modern Pentathlon!!

But it wasn’t all young talented performers. The winner of the Services to Sport was a pensioner who has been serving Hornsea Cricket Club for over 50 years!

To have Beverley WhiteStar FC amongst these excellent people, really was an honour.

Thank you for all your hard work and support for the Club!!

Cheers

Another of our ex-players sadly passed away today. Cameron Anderson was a member of my Under 10 and 11 team (and Ben Gilbert's under 9's prior to that) and I'm sure would have turned into a fine player if he had not succumbed to cancer (the reason he had to give up playing for us) at such a tender age. I am delighted to welcome Paul Brittain and Renato Merolli as the new manager and coach team for the U10 Girls team.

Not surprisingly, they both have daughters in the team.

After a successful Open Day for the Girls we had another good session yesterday, and I am pleased that Paul and Renato stepped forward, showing great willing, to take on our first ever girls team.

Paul, Renato and myself will be meeting this week to discuss the finer detail including who will be the official ‘manager’ and who will be the coach.

The two of them are off to a flying start. They have already got involved in the training, and are attending their Child protection courses on Tuesday night!!!

We have at least 14 girls signed up for the team, and they are VERY excited about the prospect of playing in a team. Yesterdays questions were..

“…are we going to be playing against ‘real’ teams and not just ourselves?”

“…are we going to have like a proper kit?”, and

“…what colour will it be?”

Please join me in welcoming Paul and Renato to the Club, and taking on these prestigious roles as the first ever manager and coach of a girls team in Beverley WhiteStar.

Paul, Renato…Welcome!!

We have a great set of guys involved in the Club who are always willing to help and share their experience to help new managers and coaches develop.

TIME TO COLLECT THE SHIELDS IN PLEASE!!

Yes, it’s that time again….

The Annual Presentation Day at Hodgsons has been booked for June 1st.

We know that this comes at the end of the Whit Holiday, but this is the last free booking slot until August !!

Hopefully no Spanish Air traffic Controllers strike puts paid to your plans to get back in time!!

More details to follow, but will be the same format as previous years

-          Mini soccer first, 11 a side later.

Any volunteers, most welcome.

As for shields. Remember the Club pays for two only – Player of the Year and Most Improved Player.

If you want to give more away, then you have to fund those yourself.

Cheers , Rod

Congratulations and thanks to all the players and parents who took part in the Morrison's bag pack on Saturday.  A massive £619.24 was collected which will go a long way to buying some much needed kit. The players worked hard and were polite and helpful-a real credit to their team and their club-very well done.

A big thank also to Morrison's Supermarket and their generous customers on Saturday morning.
