Beverley Whitestar Bulldogs 0 v 2 Costello Cobras

Bulldogs lead at the top of the table was cut as they were narrowly beaten by Costello but the windy conditions spoiled the game between two well matched teams. Bulldogs settled well against the wind in the first half but never tested the visiting 'keeper when they had the chance. Both defences were on top and it seemed it was going to be a stalemate going into half time but with only two minutes left of the half Cobras took the lead with their first shot on target. It was struck well from outside the box and gave Bulldogs stand in 'keeper Dodsworth no chance.

Half-time:- 0-1

Bulldogs had the wind behind them in the second half but although they had a few shots from outside the box none hit the target. There was a scramble in the Cobras box after 15 minutes but unfortunately for Bulldogs it was cleared away. Bulldogs probably had more of the ball than their opponents but they just couldn’t get the ball in the net. With only five minutes left Cobras sealed the victory when they hit Bulldogs on the break with a lovely through ball which was put away well by the visiting striker. Jordan Day was the coaches man of the match for Bulldogs.

Full-time 0-2

Bulldogs line-up:- Dodsworth, Redshaw, Woods, Corlyon, King, Newby, Day, Wheeldon, Williamson, Long, Waudby, Cunningham, J.Clark, W.Clark

Under 15 Knockout Cup Quarter Final

Springhead F.C. 3 v 2 Beverley Whitestar Bulldogs (a.e.t)

Bulldogs must count themselves unlucky after going out of the Knockout Cup time at the Quarter Final stage after turning in one of the best performances of the season.

Both teams were up for this one with the match played at a high tempo and very physical at times. Bulldogs without their main striker took the game to their hosts and were unlucky not to take the lead with Will Waudby, Nathan Dodsworth and Adam Wiliamson all going close. Springhead tried to play neat passing football and at times they did but most of their game was about the long ball over the top trying to catch Bulldogs out. Good work in the Bulldogs midfield put Williamson through and he cracked home a superb shot that sailed past the ex Bulldogs 'keeper Fletcher to put Bulldogs in front. It was no more than Bulldogs deserved but they should have been a bit more alert in front of goal and test the home 'keeper more than they did.

Half-Time:- 0-1

Bulldogs started the second half well but they pressed the self destruct button with some sloppy passing which led to a free kick on the edge of the box. This was fired home and put Springhead back in the game. Bulldogs kept their heads and played some lovely football again and with five minutes to go Adam Williamson hit a powerful header that Fletcher tipped over to keep his side in the match. The game remained level at full time so extra time was required to try and find a winner.

Full-time:- 1-1

In the first half of extra time Bulldogs kept on going but Springhead took the lead for the first time with a powerful header from a corner. This was tough on Bulldogs as they really did have a lot of the ball but they do need to learn to put more of their chances away. The second half of extra time was eventful with Springhead scoring again and Bulldogs captain harshly sent off. Josh Newby fired home from the penalty spot with only three minutes to go but they just couldn't get the third goal to equalise. A good effort from Bulldogs but on the day just not sharp enough in front of goal. Newby was Bulldogs man of the match.

Result after extra-time 3-2

Bulldogs line-up:- Redshaw, King, Woods, J.Clark, Corlyon, Dodsworth, Day, Williamson, Waudby, Wheeldon, Newby, Cunningham, W.Clark.

Hedon Rangers 2 v 3 Beverley Whitestar Bulldogs

Bulldogs kept hold of top spot with their second victory over Hedon this season.

It seemed that it wasn’t going to be Bulldogs day when Hedon opened the scoring with barely a minute on the clock. Bulldogs fought back and had most of the play for the first half hour. They put Hedon under pressure but then fell to another sucker punch when Hedon hit them on the break to go 2-0 up. Bulldogs didn't deserve that but they do need to make more of the opportunities when in front of goal. Bulldogs kept their heads though and George Woods got them back in the match on the stroke of half-time with a flicked header that sailed over the home 'keeper into the net.

Half-Time 2-1

The second half belonged to Bulldogs and they played some lovely passing football but Hedon still tried to catch them out with the long ball over the top but bulldogs defence dealt with it comfortably. On twenty minutes of the half Bulldogs had a succession of corners and it was Ed Long who got up to nod home and equalise for Bulldogs. Will Clark went close with about ten minutes to go but it was Ed Long again who ran on to a superb through ball from George Woods and slotted home past the 'keeper to put Bulldogs in front. It was no more than Bulldogs deserved and although Hedon went close in the last minute Bulldogs held on for another excellent three points. Josh Newby was the coaches man of the match.

Full-Time:- 2-3

Bulldogs line-up:- Newby, Redshaw, Corlyon, Dodsworth, Woods, King, Day, Williamson, Cunningham, Wheeldon, Waudby, J.Clark, W.Clark, Long

Beverley Whitestar Bulldogs 2 v 1 Phoenix FC

Bulldogs kept hold of top spot in Myton but they had to fight until the end to get all three points. Bulldogs started well and after five minutes Declan Corlyon latched on to a Josh Newby free kick to slot home. Bulldogs had a few chances which they should have done better with but  Phoenix were well organised at the back and kept Bulldogs out. The visitors moved the ball about very well and their confidence grew as the match went on. On thirty minutes they got themselves level with a long shot from outside the box that just sneaked in below the bar. This was a very entertaining game of football with both teams determined and working hard for each other.

Half-Time:- 1-1

The second half was a close affair with Bulldogs having more chances but a superb performance from the visiting 'keeper kept his side in the match with a number of excellent saves. Ben King put in his best performance for Bulldogs and worked tirelessly up and down the left flank linking well with the front men. Phoenix kept up their work rate too and went close form a free kick with five minutes to go. However, with only two minutes on the clock Will Waudby and Ed Long worked the ball down the right hand side and Waudby slipped the ball through to Adam Williamson in the box to fire home the winner for Bulldogs. Bulldogs deserved all three points but Phoenix played their part in a very good game of football. Ben King was the coaches man of the match.

Full-Time 2-1

Bulldogs line-up:- Redshaw, Dodsworth, Woods, Newby, Corlyon, King, Day, Wheeldon, Long, Waudby, Williamson, Cunningham, J.Clark

Under 15 Knockout Cup   Sunday 30th October 2011

Beverley Whitestar Bulldogs 5v2 Anlaby Road Rangers

Bulldogs kept up their unbeaten run and marched on to the last eight of the knockout cup but they didn’t have things all their own way. Anlaby turned up determined to give their hosts a game and although Bulldogs had most of the play in the opening ten minutes it was Rangers who went ahead with a well taken goal. Bulldogs kept battling away without playing their best and it took another ten minutes before they drew level. Adam Williamson picked up the ball in midfield, beat two men and put a superb through ball to Ed long who slotted home past the 'keeper. The game turned a bit scrappy but the teams remained locked at 1-1 going into the half time break.

Half-Time:- 1-1

The second half was a different story with Bulldogs starting to play much better football than they did in the first half. Nathan Dodsworth put Bulldogs in front for the first time when he fired home following a corner but Rangers levelled on 60 minutes from a superbly struck free kick. Bulldogs rolled their sleeves up and started to work more and it paid off when Ed Long finished off a nice move down the right hand side to put Bulldogs 3-2 up. Nathan Dodsworth then made it 4-2 with a thunderbolt shot from outside the box that the 'keeper could only watch sail past him. Rangers heads dropped and Dodsworth showed no mercy when he fired home again for his hat trick and a comfortable win in the end for Bulldogs. Ed Long was coaches man of the match for Bulldogs with a brilliant performance up front.

Full-Time:- 5-2

Bulldogs line-up:- Waudby, Day, Corlyon, Newby, King, J.Clark, Newby, Redshaw, Williamson, Cunningham, Wheeldon, Dodsworth, Woods.

TST Tigers 1 v 1 Beverley Whitestar Bulldogs

Bulldogs moved to the top of the Myton League table for the first time with an excellent performance at TST but really deserved all three points.

Will Waudby almost put Bulldogs in front as early as the first minute when his long range shot went narrowly wide.  Bulldogs were well on top but TST played the long ball quite a lot which nearly caught Bulldogs out on more than one occasion. Bulldogs had 'keeper George Redshaw to thank on 15 minutes when he pulled off a superb save to deny Tigers and then 5 minutes later he saved them again with another top drawer save.  Bulldogs had the edge and won three corners in succession but just couldn’t get the breakthrough they deserved before half time.

Half-time :- 0-0

Bulldogs kept up the tempo in the second half but TST were proving to be a hard team to break down and also quick on the break but Bulldogs defence was well marshalled by captain Declan Corlyon along with the hard working Nathan Dodsworth. With ten minutes to go Bulldogs got the ball in the net through Brad Winters but the referee ruled out the goal and awarded a penalty instead.  Josh Newby stepped up and blasted the ball but the home 'keeper saved well but the referee asked for the kick to be retaken and Newby made no mistake from the second attempt.  Bulldogs should have held on but with two minutes to go the referee awarded Tigers a free kick just outside the box and some how the ball sneaked in for the equaliser.  Shortly after the whistle blew for full time with the sides level.  George Redshaw was awarded coaches man of the match for an outstanding game between the posts again for Bulldogs.

Full-time:- 1-1

Bulldogs line-up:- Redshaw, Newby, Dodsworth, Woods, Corlyon, Day, Williamson, Wheeldon, Waudby, Long, Winters, Cunningham, J.Clark, W.Clark, King

Beverley Whitestar Bulldogs 3 v 2 Hedon Rangers

This was a well contested match between two teams determined to play football and it was very close throughout the match. Hedon almost got the first goal in the first minute but Bulldogs somehow managed to scramble the ball away to safety.  Bulldogs eventually settled and after ten minutes Adam Williamson got the first goal for Bulldogs when he hit a powerful shot from outside the box that was too strong for the 'keeper to deal with.  Six minutes later Bulldogs won a free kick when Luke Wheeldon was hauled down just outside the box.  Jordan Day stepped up and fired home superbly into the top corner.  Bulldogs deserved the two goal lead but then they switched off and let Hedon back into the match. Sloppy defending caught Bulldogs out and the Hedon pulled a goal back to make it 2-1.Ten minutes later and the scores were level.  A good passing move down the middle was finished well by the visitors and they deserved to be level going into half time.

Half-time 2-2

Bulldogs played much better in the second half and started to pass the ball around more than they did in the first half.  Both teams had chances but it was Bulldogs who got their noses in front following some superb play from Josh Newby.  He picked the ball up just inside the visitors half, beat two defenders and cracked home a goal worthy of winning any match. The remaining 15 minutes were fairly even but Bulldogs kept strong and held on for a superb victory and three well earned points.  Josh Newby was the coaches man of the match.

Full-time 3-2

Sunday 9th October 2011    Knockout Cup 1st Round

Beverley Whitestar Bulldogs  20 – 0 Longhill Ravens Blues

There were goals galore as Bulldogs notched up their biggest ever win but credit must also go to Longhill as they kept going until the final whistle.

Ed Long opened the scoring after 5 minutes with a finish inside the box and Adam Williamson followed up with the second ten minutes later. Clever footwork inside the box led to Will Waudby slotting home for Bulldogs third and on 35 minutes Ed Long fired home the fourth. Longhill kept trying to attack but then a long clearance from Josh Newby in the Bulldogs goal dropped sweetly for Ed Long to volley home a superb goal for his hat trick. Shortly after Long got his fourth and Bulldogs sixth just before the half time whistle.

Half-time 6-0

In the second half Bulldogs turned in a superb display of flowing football and within five minutes Adam Williamson notched the seventh and shortly after Jordan Day and Nathan Dodsworth also got on the score sheet. Lewis Cunningham fired home the tenth with a cracking shot from outside the box. George Redshaw fired home a penalty for number eleven then further strikes from Corlyon, Newby, Day, Long, Cunningham, Will Clark, King(2) and Day again for his hat trick. This was a superb performance from Bulldogs and they deserve their place in the draw for the next round. George Redshaw was the coaches man of the match.

Full-time 20-0

Westella & Willerby 2 v 4 Beverley Whitestar Bulldogs

Bulldogs played with great determination today and came back from 2-0 down to win comfortably in the end by 4 goals to 2.

It was a very physical game with both teams showing great determination to win the ball but it was Westella who got their noses in front first after five minutes when Bulldogs were caught flat footed at the back looking for an offside decision but the referee played on and awarded the goal.  Bulldogs fought back but were hit on the break again with a long ball and the home striker took the goal well to put his side 2-0 up after only ten minutes. Bulldogs pulled one back when Ed Long fired home on fifteen minutes and then Josh Newby equalised from the spot ten minutes before half time.  It was the least that Bulldogs deserved and should have been 3-2 up when a shot from Nathan Dodsworth seemed to cross the line but the referee played on and there were no further goals before half time.

Half-time 2-2

The second half was dominated by Bulldogs and although the game was still physical Bulldogs rode the tackles to stamp their authotity on the match.  They took the lead ten minutes into the second half with another penalty taken by Josh Newby and with ten minutes to go Ed Long fired home his second of the game to put Bulldogs 4-2 ahead. Bulldogs should have been out of sight as Ed Long hit the bar with a blistering shot and Nathan Dodsworth along with Will Waudby both went close. A great team performance from Bulldogs with three well deserved points.  Ed Long was coaches man of the match.

Full-time:- 2-4

Beverley Whitestar Bulldogs 7 v 0 Beverley Town

Bulldogs won this local derby with ease with a very good all round team performance.

The first half started with both teams determined to stamp their authority on the game and it was Bulldogs who had the slight edge in the opening minutes. Movement was good on and off the ball but it took 30 minutes before the deadlock was broken. Town struggled to clear a corner and from the resulting scramble in the box Nathan Dodsworth managed to poke the ball home to give Bulldogs the lead ten minutes before half time. Town put a couple of good moves together but the Bulldogs defence were strong and kept them out.

Half-Time 1-0

It was a different story in the second half. Bulldogs dominated from the whistle and got their second with a good finish from Luke Wheeldon after ten minutes. Shortly after Will Waudby beat two defenders before firing home Bulldogs third. Two minutes later Lewis Cunningham tapped in at the far post to make it four for Bulldogs. Man of the match Will Waudby cracked home a superb shot on 30 minutes and then a double from Nathan Dodsworth secured his hat trick and put Bulldogs seven up. Town kept on trying to the final whistle but on the day were no match for a determined Bulldogs. Will Waudby was awarded the coaches man of the match.

Full-time:- 7-0

Hessle Sporting 9 v 1 Beverley Whitestar Bulldogs

Bulldogs came up against the Double winners from last season and Hessle proved today that they are going to be very hard for any team to get close to.

Bulldogs started quite well and played some nice football with George Woods outstanding but the home team soon started to display the qualities that saw them clean up last season.  It was after ten minutes the first goal went in and was quickly followed two minutes later by the second. A wonder strike from 20 yards made it three but Bulldogs still fought hard and nearly pulled one back from a Josh Newby free kick but the 'keeper saved well.

Half-time 3-0

The second half started well for Hessle and they added to the score with another well taken strike.  This performance from Bulldogs wasn't so bad it was just Hessle played superbly with great movement on and off the ball.  Bulldogs dropped their head a bit as the goals kept coming.  Luke Wheeldon managed to get a consolation for Bulldogs but in the end Bulldogs were no match for their hosts.  George Woods was the coaches man of the match.

Full-time 9-1
