1.
You agree that your child’s
involvement in playing football is primarily for his/her own personal
enjoyment.
2. You must respect the rights, dignity and worth of each and
every person involved and treat each equally within the context of the
sport. Praise positive aspects of play and avoid becoming frustrated and
ridiculing any player from either team by focusing on their failings.
3. You must place the well being and safety of each player
above all other considerations, including the development of performance.
4. You must adhere to all guidelines laid down within the
Constitution and Rules of Beverley WhiteStar F.C. and The Football
Association.
5. You must develop a good supporting relationship between
yourself, the coach and your child based on mutual trust and respect.
6. You agree not to exert undue influence to obtain personal
benefit or reward.
7. You must encourage your child to accept responsibility for
their own behaviour and performance.
8. You should clarify with the Manager/Coach exactly what is
expected of you and your child, and what you can expect from the
managers/coaches, players and parents. The full set of Codes of Conduct of
Beverley WhiteStar F.C. outline these expectations.
9. You must agree to co-operate as necessary with specialists
(e.g. other managers/coaches, officials, sports scientists, doctors,
physiotherapists) in the best interests of your child.
10. You agree to promote the positive aspects of the sport
(e.g. fair play) and never condone violations of the laws of the game,
behaviour contrary to the spirit of The Laws of the Game or relevant rules
and regulations, or use of prohibited substances or techniques.
11. You must consistently display high standards of behaviour
(e.g. no swearing or intimidating language or aggressive body language at
anytime to any person involved (e.g. players, managers/coaches, officials,
parents, spectators)). You agree to be a role model for the players and
other parents and spectators.
12. You must emphasise the importance of striving to win, not
winning itself. Praise should be given for effort and performance rather
than results.
13. Please let the
coaches coach! Mixed
instructions from the touchline often causes confusion, reduced
performance and can lead to distress in the players.
14. Please support
and encourage the Referee! The
Referee plays a critical role in the smooth running of the game. Remember
that the Referee is doing this on a voluntarily and for the benefit of the
players, the team and you. This is in addition to the behaviour agreed in
Item 11.
15. Be your
child’s best fan! Support
you child unconditionally. Do not withdraw your support when you believe
that your child has not played to your expectations.
16. Support all
players on the team! Football
is a team game and your child’s team-mates are not the enemy. By
encouraging teamwork, your child and the team will learn from each other
to increase their enjoyment and performance .
