30 April Eagles
4 Hedon Rangers 0 The
Eagles rounded off their home matches for the season with a win against a
much improved & determined Hedon team. On a lovely morning well done
to the girls who won again & kept a clean sheet for the third game
running. The Eagles took a while to find their stride, but when they did
both Jenna & Reanna went close to opening the scoring. At the back it
was quiet for Bella & Georgia in goal, but whenever needed they were
fully alert to clear any danger. At the other end the Hedon goalie &
defence were in good form keeping out a number of Eagles attempts as Mia C
& Anya put them under pressure. When the lead came it was a goal of
quality with Lucy pouncing on the edge of the area to fire home with a
strong left foot shot. HT
1-0 The
girls had to defend early in the second half, but then started to put some
pressure on the Hedon defence with Anya again going close. From a Hedon
corner Anya intercepted and ran the full length of the pitch before
squaring for Lucy to score. Mia R came on in midfield with Hollie taking
over in goal, FT

play first by Reanna and then from Bella. Halfway through the half the
Eagles scored after some lovely passing, Lucy moving the ball first to Mia
C who swept the ball forward to Anya who turned and fired from the edge of
the area into the roof of the net, a great goal. Some good defensive work
from Izzie sent the ball to Bella who sent Anya through, whose shot

9 April Eagles
0 Ferriby Greens 0 It
was a quick turnaround for the Eagles after their cup exploits on Thursday
night, and they put in a terrific performance against the League winners
Ferriby Greens. The
Eagles had the best of the early exchanges and forced a number of early
corners, with shots from Bella & Reanna forcing the keeper into saves.
Ferriby came into it, and the back three of Reanna, Lucy & Izzie
showed how much they have improved as they kept out a strong attacking
team. When they did get through The
second half saw the Eagles having to defend more against a good team, but
again they were up to the challenge. The tackling & running from
defence was excellent, with strong runs from Lucy, Reanna & Bella.
Both Jenna & Mia R came on & contributed to the team effort. In
the last minute Ferriby broke through, but Well
done again girls, a really good performance. Player

19 March Cup Hedon
1 Eagles 3 (AET) The
Eagles moved into the next round, but not after being given a tough game
by Hedon. Although the Eagles enjoyed most of the possession they were
unable to find a way through a determined Hedon team. The
best chances of the first half fell firstly to Georgia who nearly
converted a Reanna corner, and then Anya who slipped past a couple of
defenders only to be denied by a fine save by the goalkeeper. In defence
Bella & Izzie had to be vigilant when called upon. HT
0-0 The
Eagles started the half brighter and Anya turned a corner into the roof to
take the lead. This prompted a few more chances and both Lucy & then
Georgia went close as their shots were well saved. Both
Mia C and Mia R came on and the Eagles continued to see a lot of the ball.
With just a few minutes left it was Hedon who took a chance from long
range to send the game into extra-time. FT
1-1 The
first action of extra time saw Bella making a tackle to prevent a Hedon
attacker who was moving in on goal. From the corner Bella made a strong 40
yard run, her shot was parried by the keeper and Anya was following up to
put the ball in. The girls went close shortly afterwards, and with two
minutes left Reanna scored directly from a free-kick to seal the game. On
a warm morning the final whistle was welcomed ! Player of the Match : Bella Brittain |

They fell further behind to a well taken goal, but kept going in dreadful

12 February Pinefleet
Wolfreton 1 Eagles 2 This
match was played on the 3G surface at the University, a first for the
Eagles. The Eagles lined up with Wolfreton
started strongly, but the Eagles defence was good with Izzie & Bella
putting in some strong tackles when needed. HT
0-1 The
second half swung from one end of the pitch to the other as both teams
looked to attack. For the Eagles Lucy & Bella continued to move the
ball around nicely. From a Wolfreton goal-kick the ball fell to Reanna
who, without hesitating, shot straight into the net. Wolfreton kept coming
back, and some superb defending from Izzie was needed to keep them out.
Hollie & Jenna came on and made the contribution to the team effort,
and although Wolfreton scored the Eagles held out for the three points.
Definitely the best game of the season, and credit to the two teams who
put a lot of effort in. Player

15 January The
Eagles soared into the New Year with a good performance against Hessle.
The girls lined up with Hollie in goal, Lucy & Izzie defence, Despite
the boggy pitch the girls quickly got into their stride, with Bella &
Reanna moving & passing the ball around well. With five minutes gone,
Reanna was awarded a free-kick & quickly spotted Anya unmarked
upfront. She played the ball through & Anya took the ball into the
area before calmly slotting past the keeper, cue a new celebration ! The
tackling continues to improve & every time Hessle looked to move ahead
they came up against some strong tackles. In defence Lucy & Izzie
continued their improving partnership and if one didn't stop the
attackers, the other did. Georgia showed plenty of energy in midfield
& the Eagles kept producing corners and were unfortunate not to get
more from a couple of goalmouth scrambles. Jenna came on near half-time
and although Hessle pressed the Eagles were able to contain them. HT
0-1 The
tackles continued to come in and after another corner the ball fell to
Anya who looped the ball over the keeper for her second. On
a wet pitch it was hard going & both teams were very tired after what
was a good & competitive match. Well
done to all the girls who are proving that playing as a team does get
results ! Player

Shepherd
five star. Beverley Whitestar Eagles 7 - 1 North Ferriby Utd ‘Whites’ Within minutes today the Whitestar girls sprung into action giving a shell shocked Ferriby no time to settle. Anya Shepherd broke free and from the half way line carried the ball herself to face the goalkeeper and blasted the ball into the back of the net. A fantastic start for these U10 girls. Within minutes and barely giving Ferriby time to recoup, Reanna Wardill slipped a superb pass to release Shepherd again who, without hesitation, hit the same spot with such accuracy and power that the keeper stood little chance of stopping the ball. The Eagles, with confidence running high, continued the pressure with Lucy Norton taking a stunning shot at goal which went just inches wide of the post. Wardill then took a throw from the side line which teasingly went across the Ferriby goal for Shepherd to once again toe poke into the net and complete her hat trick. When Ferriby managed to get into their attacking half a confident Izzy Holmes cleared to release the Whitestar strikers every time and dominated the defence. Jenna Moore and Mia Richardson came on and battled hard in mid field to spur Ferriby’s chances of easing the pressure. These girls found their players well. Norton released Shepherd again but she was unlucky this time as the ball hit the post and into the keeper’s hand. Shepherd did not relent and managed to break away free two more times before the half time whistle to bring her tally to 5.
The second half saw Shepherd in goal to release Georgia Todd into the play. Ferriby should be very proud as they did not give up the fight and continued to battle hard for the ball. Todd and Chloe Reece added to Ferriby’s troubles as they also pushed up front passing the ball well. The opposition though now packed the defence and Whitestar could not dominate as in the previous half and they struggled to find a way through but Bella Brittain had a fantastic run down the left wing and shot for goal and was unlucky not to score, but minutes later she put the ball in the back of the net with an impressive strike. Moore managed to break free after a good build up and slotted the ball home to make it 7 – 0. Full credit to Ferriby though as just before the final whistle this side, who does not give up, broke away and despite pressure from the defence put the ball in the back of the net to make the final score 7 – 1.

Saturday
6th November Eagles
2 Pinefleet Wolfreton 2 After
the excitement of the HT
0-2 The
second half saw the girls come right back into the game, and they played
some of their best football of the season. In defence Izzy & Lucy made
some strong challenges and this meant the Eagles got a lot more
possession. In the middle Bella & Georgia started to link up well and
this meant that they were able to get the ball through to Anya a lot more.
One mazy run put Anya through & the keeper just got her hands to it,
stopping a tap in for Bella. In midfield both Chloe & Mia put in their
best performances yet. With 10 minutes to go Anya's persistence in the
area allowed her to force the ball home, and this led to a frantic finale. Hollie
made two further saves, but the tackling & passing was the key. Lucy
took the ball from one of the Wolfreton players and then held off another
to pass to Anya. She then took the ball on, sprinting past the centre-half
to finish in style, much to the delight of the supporters. It
was a good game & played between two even teams. Player

Eagles went to table topping Ferriby and emerged with a lot of credit
against a good team. The Eagles lined up with HT
4-0 The
second half was a much more even affair & the defence were able to
stop Ferriby from breaking through. Lucy & Bella take credit for this
and this allowed the Eagles midfielders to break upfield much more than in
the first half. Both Jenna & Reanna never stopped running and some of
the interplay between Renna & Anya was good to watch. Both of them
went close as the game wore on. whilst at the other end Full
credit to the girls for keeping going, and they showed great heart by
sticking together, it was a good team performance. Player

1 Goole 0 The
Eagles came out on top in a keenly fought contest against Goole. Hollie
had to withdraw just before kick off leaving Anya to don the goalie gloves
for the first time, and leading to a quick reshuffle in the team. The
Eagles had the better of the first exchanges and shots from Jenna and Lucy
tested the Goole goalkeeper. The game saw a lot of action in midfield with
plenty of challenges and tackles coming in. A good corner from Reanna saw
Jenna go close as the ball bobbed around in the Goole area. At the other
end Bella and Izzy were on hand to clear the lines, but when Goole did get
through Anya was able to deal with the shots that came in. Mia came on and

9 October Eagles
1 Team
: Hollie, Izzy, Bella, The
Eagles saw debuts for both Georgia & Grace, and given that the
majority of the team have played just the odd game it was a very promising
performance and the game was very even. The first half belonged to the
Eagles with Izzy & Georgia able to prevent Hessle from mounting any
serious attacks. At the other end Bella & Reanna from midfield forced
a number of attacks & corners from which they were unlucky not to
score. The passing from the team was very good and from another attack
Jenna & Reanna found Lucy who thundered the ball against the cross bar
& watched agonisingly as the ball dropped on the line & into the
keeper's arms. it wasn't in, but the clamour for goal-line technology grows
! Just before half-time Hessle broke & took a well taken goal. HT
0-1 The
second half saw Chloe & Grace making appearances and they along with
the rest of the team showed a big improvement in terms of their tackling,
Bella, Izzy & Georgia take a bow ! As the Eagles pressed they were
caught on the break again and Hessle were able to extend their lead, and
Hollie made a couple of timely saves. Mia came on towards the end, and the
Eagles showed real fight in the last 5-10 minutes as they kept plugging
away. Reanna & Lucy combined to produce a good effort, and in the last
minute Lucy scored a deserved goal. It
was a good performance from the girls, well done & keep going ! Player

2 October Eagles
1 Hessle Sporting 6 After
the downpours on Friday the match went ahead on a boggy pitch against a
stong Hessle team. The Eagles saw debuts for Jenna & Mia, and home
debuts for Hollie & Lucy. The first ten minutes were fairly even as
both teams looked to attack, Jenna & Anya able to force the early
attacks. Izzy & Bella in defence had to be on their guard as Hessle
forced a number of corners, and took some hits for the team !! At the
other end both Anya & Lucy forced saves from the Hessle goalkeeper as
the Eagles managed to force their own corners, which Reanna was able to
sweep in with great accuracy. In the run up to half-time Hessle took
control to go in at the break three up. HT
0-3 The
score became four straight from the restart, but for the rest of the game
the contest was very even as the Eagles were able to force their opponents
back. Mia came on & up against older opponents made some good tackles.
Both Lucy & Anya went agonisingly close, and at the other end Hessle
scored further goals. However the Eagles finished the game strongly,
Hollie made the save of the game & then Izzy & Bella moved the
ball upfield, the ball was passed to Anya who teed up Reanna, great finish
in the bottom corner ! FT

Eagles got their season off to a great start with a win at Hedon. The
Eagles started brightly and forced a string of corners in the first few

slot the ball home. In defence Bella & Izzie made a number of tackles

goal. Just before halftime another corner found Lucy who added her second. HT
