SPECIAL

MENTION

 U-11 DRYPOOL LEAGUE  2011-2012

AFC Tickton Cougars U11            4

Beverley Whitestar Sharks U11   1

Both teams joined together with supporters in a respectful minute of silence prior to kick off at Longcroft School on a damp and cloudy morning. The game started with both sides playing good football particularly the Sharks who played some neat passes down the centre. Good defending by Will Pearson stopped the Tickton attack and this was followed by a good near post save by Tom Bowman denying Tickton a scoring opportunity. A ball through the Sharks defence in the early minutes was ruled offside by the referee. Brandon Kilvington made a good break for the Sharks down the left wing but was tackled well by the Tickton defence as he attempted to cross the ball. Some excellent passing between Connor Mooney, Monte Dale and Brandon forced a Beverley corner which was met by Brandon who shot just wide. Further Beverley pressure saw Fabien Ali put through Tom Dickson whose shot was blocked by the Tickton defence forcing another corner.

A through ball by Tickton was saved by Tom Bowman but the ball appeared to be kicked from his hands by the Tickton attack who controversially put the ball in the back of the net . The goal was allowed. 1-0 to Tickton. Both sides continued to battled well for possession. Joe Cooper made some excellent tackles at right full back to thwart Tickton’s attacks. Following some further neat passing Monte Dale made a good break down the left wing and put in a good cross which was slotted into the corner of the Tickton net by Tom Dickson to make the score 1-1. Further Beverley pressure down the left was defended well by Tickton resulting in the teams coming in at half time all square.

Beverley kicked off the second half, but Tickton started on the front foot. Joe Bellotti defended well for the Sharks and put in an excellent sliding tackle as Tickton attacked down the right. A Tickton corner was unfortunately knocked into the back of their own net by the Sharks. Tickton lead 2-1.Shortly after conceding the second goal a lapse in concentration saw the Sharks lose possession on the edge of their box and Tickton shot into the right hand corner of the net giving Tom Bowman no chance to save. 3-1 Tickton. Straight from the restart Beverley gave the ball away giving Tickton another scoring opportunity which they took. 4-1 to Tickton. Despite conceding three quick goals Beverley continued to play the ball around, particularly through the midfield, and continued to battle well despite being behind.  Breaks were made by both sides and some good passing between Fabien Ali and Charlie North resulted in a shot from Charlie that was saved by the Tickton keeper. Tom Bowman made two further saves at his near post to deny Tickton. The final whistle blew with the score being 4-1 to Tickton.
