ANLABY
PARK RANGERS 4 v 3 BEVERLEY WHITESTAR TIGERS In
exceptionally wet conditions both teams had a lot to play for: The Tigers
needed a win to secure a place in the promotion play- offs, and Anlaby
needed at least one point to gain automatic promotion and avoid the
play-offs. Tigers
started well and created a couple of opportunities, but it was Anlaby who
scored first. Sam Burton in the Tigers goal made a good save but could not
hold the ball, and Rangers followed up on the rebound to go one nil ahead. Almost
immediately Tigers drew level, when Matthew Minshall went on a great run,
passed the Anlaby keeper and slotted the ball home. Joe
Jowsey in the Tigers midfield showed great energy and his passing and
creative play continually put the Anlaby defence under pressure, but the
Tigers were unable to secure a second goal and the first half ended 1:1. In
the 2nd half the Tigers started strongly and However,
Anlaby demonstrated why they are promotion contenders, and they showed
great strength and determination under pressure. They soon equalised, and
a further 2 quick goals gave them a 4:2 lead. The
Tigers battled to the end, and whilst they had further opportunities, they
were unable to find the back of the net. With 5 minutes remaining
Tigers won a penalty which Ashton Needley converted to give them hope.
However, by now the clock was running down, and Anlaby held onto victory
and secured their place in the top division next season. Both
sets of players showed courage and determination in terrible conditions.
It was impossible to pick out a man of the match, as everyone deserved it. Beverley

WHITESTAR TIGERS 1 v 3 COURTS In
a game that Courts needed to win to keep their promotion hopes alive,
they proved the stronger side over the 80 minutes. Both
sides started well and created a number of chances, but it was Tigers
who opened the scoring with 12 minutes played when Matthew Minshall’s
superb pass to Ashton Needley was crossed into the box for Ryan Forrest
to fire home coolly. Tigers built on this great start and created more
chances in the first half. Their best opportunities came from a couple
of free kicks, but they went just wide. In
the 2nd half Courts came out more determined to get back into
the game. They won the midfield battle and with 20 minutes played
they beat the Tiger’s defence to get a well-deserved equaliser. A
minute later they scored a 2nd to go into the lead. Tigers
battled to get back into the game, but they just could not find the
killer pass that would open the Courts defence. With just a few
minutes to go Courts scored a 3rd to put the result beyond
doubt. The
Tigers man of the match was awarded to James Preston and the coaches’
player of the week was awarded to Connor Spence Beverley

BEVERLEY
WHITESTAR TIGERS 4 v 0 BRIDLINGTON RANGERS For
the 3rd consecutive game the Tigers put in an excellent all
round team performance and achieved a well-deserved victory. From
the first minute the Tigers played confidently and put pressure on the
Bridlington defence, and with only 5 minutes played they won a free kick
just outside the area. Ryan Forrest’s well-struck kick was
initially saved by the Bridlington keeper, but the loose ball was played
on by Alex Fleeman to Toby Brown who had put himself in the right
position to strike the ball home for a 1 nil lead. The
front 2 of Forrest and Ashton Needley were linking up well with Lewis
Cunningham and Brown on the wing, and they created a number of chances.
It was from one of these that Needley struck home from a tight angle to
give the Tigers a 2 nil lead. Just
before half time Needley had another chance, but this time his header
went just over the bar. The
2nd half saw the Tigers bring on some fresh legs, and an
excellent through ball by Simon Bromwich was struck just wide by Matthew
Minshall. Defensively
this was an outstanding performance by the very solid and consistent
Tigers back four of Alex Fleeman, Jed Clark, Connor Spence and James
Preston. They battled hard for every ball, and none of them put a foot
wrong all game. Tigers scored their 3rd when Needley’s
through ball found Forrest in a great position just inside the box, and
he fired the ball home to leave the Bridlington keeper
no chance. With the game now looking safe the Tigers continued to
push forward whilst always maintaining their resolute defence. In the
final few minutes of the game Fleeman capped his excellent performance
with a goal, when he got his whole body behind the ball and headed home
from a corner to give the Tigers a 4 nil victory. Overall
an excellent performance from the Tigers in all areas of the field,
securing their 3rd consecutive victory and 2nd
clean sheet. The
Tigers man of the match was awarded to Alex Fleeman and the coaches’
player of the week was awarded to Toby Brown Beverley

COURTS
0 v 2 BEVERLEY WHITESTAR TIGERS Against
the top scoring team in the division, the Tigers put in an excellent
team performance and achieved a well-deserved victory. The
Tigers showed their intentions from the opening minute, when Ashton
Needley’s long range shot went just over the bar. They maintained the
pressure and came close to scoring again when Matthew Minshall’s free
kick was well-struck by Alex Fleeman and hit the cross bar. The
Tigers’ reward eventually came on 27 minutes when a high ball into the
box was cleanly finished off by Needley to open the scoring. A
minute later the hard-working Needley chased down a ball that looked to
be a lost cause, passed it to Ryan Forrest, who then struck it home from
a difficult angle to give Tigers a 2:0 lead. From their defence at
the back, throughout midfield and into attack the Tigers were playing
some excellent football, linking up well and putting Courts under
pressure. Courts were never allowed to settle and find their rhythm in
the 1st half, and when they did get forward, they were
thwarted by excellent defensive performances from Minshall, Fleeman,
James Preston and Connor Spence. Tigers
started the 2nd half brightly and Joe Jowsey, who was
everywhere in the game, created a couple of chances and had a free kick
just over the bar. However, Courts worked themselves back into the game,
and as the Tigers began to lose some momentum, Courts started to have
the better of the 2nd half. They had a number of chances on
goal, and were unlucky at times to hit the post or the cross bar.
When Courts did get a shot on target they found that Sam Burton was in
great form in the Tigers’ goal, positioning himself perfectly at the
right time to make some excellent saves. Overall
an excellent performance from the Tigers in all areas of the field,
securing a clean sheet against Courts who, in their previous 7 games,
had managed to score no less than 50 goals. The
Tigers man of the match was awarded to Sam Burton and the coaches’
player of the week was Bailey Spooner. Beverley

BRIDLINGTON
3 v 5 BEVERLEY WHITESTAR TIGERS For
the 2nd consecutive week Ashton Needley scored a hat trick
and the Tigers earned a well-deserved victory. Tigers
got off to a dream start when, with just 2 minutes on the clock, Tiger’s
back four of James Preston, Alex Fleeman, Jed Clark and Josh Gillet
demonstrated their usual strong, reliable defending and limited
Bridlington’s opportunities Clark was particularly solid in his
tackling, and Fleeman never put a foot wrong all game. On
30 minutes the Tigers increased their lead with a superb piece of play. Just
before half time a great cross from the Bridlington winger was volleyed
home by their forward to make it 2:1 going into the half-time break. In
the 2nd half the Tigers continued to put the Bridlington
defence under pressure. Toby Brown’s superb cross into the box found
the ever-reliable Needley who headed home to give the Tigers a 3:1 lead.
Lewis Cunningham, who was having a tremendous game on the left wing,
also came close to scoring when his thunderous strike went just wide. With
13 minutes of the 2nd half played, good teamwork from the
Tigers saw Forrest come close, and Needley was on hand to tap home the
loose ball to get his hat-trick. The
game looked safe for the Tigers, but Bridlington had others ideas. They
continued to push forward and were able to win a number of free kicks
which seemed to unsettle the Tigers. Bridlington then scored 2 goals in
quick succession to make the score 4:3. Tigers
then picked up their game, and with Simon Bromwich and Lewis Cunningham
on the wings, they continued to pressure the Bridlington defence. A
great ball from Joe Jowsey to Lewis Cunningham was crossed into the box
for Forrest to finish off and get his just reward for his hard work and
determination. The
Tigers man of the match was awarded to Lewis Cunningham and the
coaches’ player of the week was Alex Fleeman. Beverley

BEVERLEY
WHITESTAR TIGERS 5 v 2 DCSI SHARKS Tigers
put in an excellent performance to record a 5: 2 victory over DCSI
Sharks. They
got off to a superb start when, with just 5 minutes played, new captain
Ashton Needley turned in the box and placed the ball just under the bar.
A few minutes later Matthew Minshall almost made it 2:0 when he headed a
superb cross from Lewis Cunningham, but the ball went just wide of the
post. On
12 minutes Cunningham had a great shot on goal himself, and after
the keeper made an initial save, Needley pounced on the lose ball and
hammered it home for his 2nd. Simon Bromwich kept up the
pressure on DCSI Sharks when his brilliant shot also hit the back of the
net, but unfortunately it was ruled offside. Needley
got his well-deserved hat trick on 32 minutes, when his speculative shot
from just outside the box went over the keeper and gave the Tigers a 3
nil lead going into half time. The
2nd half started with a long range shot from Minshall that
hit the cross bar. With Connor Spence and Toby Brown on the
wings, and Alex Fleeman playing high up field, the Tigers were playing
some excellent football and creating a number of chances. The
final 20 minutes were a scrappy affair, and DCSI managed to work
themselves back into the game when they pulled a goal back. Determined
to keep their 3 goal advantage, the Tigers pushed forward and won a
penalty, which Ryan Forrest shot home coolly. A few minutes later
DCSI also won and scored from a penalty. Just
before full time Ryan Forrest scored his 2nd to give Tigers a
5:2 victory. The

WHITESTAR TIGERS 2 v 2 COTTINGHAM RANGERS Cottingham
got off to a bright start when they beat the Tigers’ defence and
looked certain to score, but an outstanding and confident clearance by
Jed Clarke prevented the goal. However, Cottingham were not
to be denied for long, and they scored from a corner on 11 minutes. Lewis
Cunningham was playing brilliantly for the Tigers on the left wing, and
he delivered some great crosses into the box. Tigers came close to
equalising when Joe Jowsey’s shot went just over the bar on 20
minutes, but it was Cottingham who were to score again next. On
26 minutes they beat the Tigers defence, and whilst Tigers
responded instantly. Jowsey and Cunningham were both in excellent form,
and it was a Jowsey cross that found Cunningham on the left wing.
Cunningham showed great ball control and accuracy when he drilled the
ball into the back of the net to pull a goal back for Tigers going into
half time. If
the 1st half was relatively even, then the 2nd
half was dominated by the Tigers. Bailey Spooner, Toby Brown and
Simon Bromwich all stretched the Cottingham defence, but were unable to
find the breakthrough ball. Tigers finally found the equaliser 14
minutes into the 2nd half when Ashton Needley went on a good
run and his shot found the back of the net. The
rest of the 2nd half was pretty much all one way as Tigers
created chance after chance for the winning goal. The Cottingham keeper
played superbly to keep them in the game, making a great diving save
from a Connor Spence shot on one occasion, and later scrambling the ball
off the line. Towards
the end of the game Cottingham created some great chances of their own,
and were only denied by a couple of outstanding saves by Sam Burton in
the Tigers goal. The
Tigers continued to battle and push forward in search of the winner, but
despite great play and battling by Ryan Forrest and Lewis Cunningham,
they could not find the winner. The Cottingham defence remained
resolute and the game ended 2:2. Overall a terrific game. The
Tigers man of the match was awarded to Sam Burton and the coaches’
player of the week was Jed Clark. Beverley

COSTELLO
WOLVES 1 v 4 BEVERLEY WHITESTAR TIGERS Beverley
Tigers put in an excellent performance to earn a well-deserved away win
over Costello. Costello
started brightly and had a good early chance in the 2nd
minute, but Sam Burton in the Tigers goal managed to block the shot with
his knees. Beverley
soon began to work themselves into the game, with Joe Jowsey showing
great ball control and superb dribbling skills in the midfield action. The
first half continued relatively evenly until Costello opened the scoring
from a corner on 26 minutes to go 1 nil up. Beverley
battled hard to equalise, and they got their reward when they won a free
kick on 34 minutes. Matthew Minshall stepped up and delivered a
perfect thunderbolt strike that just dipped under the bar at the right
moment and left the Costello keeper no chance. Beverley
then went into the lead on 38 minutes when a scramble in the box saw
Ashton Needley head the ball at goal and Connor Spence then got on the
end of it to make sure. Just
on the stroke of half time The
first 20 minutes of the 2nd half saw Beverley play some truly
scintillating pass and move football. Minshall and Jowsey were at the
centre of all the action, and Lewis Cunningham, Josh Gillet and Toby
Brown on the wings stretched the Costello midfield and defence by some
excellent passing and movement. 9
minutes into the 2nd half a beautiful move involving great
passing between Minshall, Needley and Cunningham was finished off by
Simon Bromwich for a well-deserved 3rd goal. A
few minutes later a cross from Brown was finished off by Needley to give
Beverley a 4:1 lead. The remaining 20 minutes saw Beverley sit back a little and allow Costello back into the game. However, the defence of James Preston, Jed Clark, Alex Fleeman and Bailey Spooner were showing the top form they are capable of, and Costello were unable to create any clear cut chances. Overall
a very good performance that, at times, was some of the best football
that Beverley has played this season. They fully deserved their
4:1 victory. The

Plate Semi Final Holderness
Boys 1 v 2 Beverley Whitestar Tigers Beverley
Whitestar Tigers secured their place in the Plate final with a
hard-fought battle against Holderness Boys at Paull. With
the advantage of playing down hill, Holderness Boys managed to open the
scoring after only 7 minutes. The Tiger’s keeper Sam Burton came out
and initially made a good save, but the ball was not cleared and the
Holderness striker shot into the right hand corner. Tigers
fought hard to try to gain an equaliser, but the ground conditions meant
that they struggled to find their rhythm in the first half. Their
best opportunity came on 13 minutes when a scramble in the box created
opportunities for Lewis Cunningham, Alex Fleeman and Connor Spence, but
the crossbar and good goalkeeping kept the Tigers out. Josh
Gillet and Simon Bromwich helped to maintain the pressure on the
Holderness Boys’ defence, but they were unable to find the crucial
goal their efforts deserved. In
the 2nd half the Tigers introduced some fresh legs and,
playing down hill, they stepped up a gear and dominated much of the 2nd
half. With Connor Spence now up front, and Joe Jowsey and James
Preston on the right holding the ball up well, Tigers made some neat
passing moves and created a number of chances. The Holderness
Boys’ defence was under increasing pressure, as the Tigers won a
number of free kicks and corners. It was finally from a Jowsey corner on
12 minutes that the equaliser came, when the ball was volleyed home by
Fleeman to make it 1:1. With
the Tigers dominant and now playing with confidence, it was always going
to be difficult for Holderness Boys to score an equaliser, and so it
proved. With Minshall at the heart of all the action, the Tigers
held on for a well-deserved victory and booked their place in their 2nd
successive final. The

Cave Tigers – Beverley’s first league defeat since the opening game

advantage of the wind behind them, The
first goal for Given
the windy conditions 2 nil down looked a reasonable basis for a Beverley
fight-back in the 2nd half, and with the wind behind them
Beverley began to dominate the play. Their breakthrough came
following a superb run by Matthew Minshall, who played the ball to Lewis
Cunningham. His cross was then punched out by the Cave keeper, but it
fell to Ashton Needley whose great strike was finally enough to beat the
keeper. The
fight-back continued, but despite creating numerous chances, Beverley
could not beat the Cave keeper or the cross bar. Overall a

Longhill
Ravens Ambers 1 v 2 Beverley Whitestar Tigers Tigers
continued their unbeaten run and progressed to the semi-finals of the
Plate competition with a hard-fought but well-deserved 2:1 victory over
Longhill Ravens Ambers. With Lewis Cunningham making his debut for
the Tigers, they got off to a good start with Ryan Forrest, Ashton Needley
and Elliott King all coming close to opening the scoring.
Needley’s header was just over the bar. A few minutes later
Elliott King’s shot was well-saved by the Longhill keeper.
Tigers continued to pressure and it was only a tremendous performance by
the Longhill keeper that kept them in the game. However,
it was Longhill who opened the scoring, when they beat the Tigers
defence and a good strike was enough to give them a 1 nil lead. Tigers
fought back, and a well-taken Forrest free-kick was again superbly saved
by the Longhill keeper. Tigers
got their reward on 33 minutes when Forrest’s brilliant shot was enough
to finally beat the Longhill keeper. Just
before half-time Tigers made a couple of substitutions with Jed Clark
coming on to make his Tigers debut. The
2nd half followed a similar pattern to the first with
Tigers having much of the possession but unable to find the killer ball
that was good enough to beat the outstanding Longhill keeper. Joe
Jowsey in the Tigers midfield was having an excellent game, his dribbling
runs constantly putting Longhill under pressure. When Longhill did get
forward the well-disciplined Tigers back 4 looked very solid and were able
to confidently deal with any threats. With
30 minutes played a scramble in the box created the opportunity for
Toby Brown to hammer the ball into the back of the net for his debut goal
for the Tigers. Longhill tried to get forward to get the equaliser.

Whitestar Tigers 1 v 1 Hall Road Rangers The
Tigers played host to top of the table Hall Road Rangers, and with both
teams being unbeaten since mid September, this was always going to be a
tight match, and so it proved. The game started at a fast
pace, and Rangers had a chance straight from the kick off, but it went
just wide. The Tigers responded instantly as Joe Jowsey on the
left played a superb ball through to Ryan Forrest, but his shot went
just over the bar. The
game continued to be played end to end, and Rangers displayed a lethal
combination of skill, strength and speed. However, the Tigers
defensive quartet of James Preston, Alex Fleeman, Matthew Minshall and
Bailey Spooner were more than capable of withstanding the intense
pressure. On
the right wing Simon Bromwich and Connor Spence linked up well to create
opportunities, but they found it hard to break through the Rangers
defence, and the first half ended 0:0 The
2nd half continued in a similar vein until the 17th
minute when Josh Gillett This
stung Rangers into action and they pushed forward in search of an
equaliser. The Tigers stood firm, with Sam Burton in the Tigers
goal putting in another confident performance. Rangers won a
couple of free kicks in dangerous areas, but they could not make them

Rangers Blues 1 v 2 Beverley Whitestar Tigers Beverley
Whitestar Tigers put in a great all round performance of passing
football to beat a strong and determined Rangers side and progress to
the quarter finals of the Plate competition. On
a damp and foggy Sunday afternoon the first half was relatively even.
Both teams created a number of chances, but they both found it difficult
to break down the resolute defence of their opponents. Connor
Spence, Joe Jowsey and Simon Bromwich all helped to create a
number of opportunities for the Tigers, but it was Ashton Needley who
came the closest to scoring in the first half. However, the Rangers
keeper who was on top form, and it was Rangers who eventually made the
breakthrough on 33 minutes to go 1 nil up at half time. In
the 2nd half the Tigers were determined to get back into the
game. They made their intentions clear from the outset when a
great free kick from Needley was headed just over the bar by Toby Brown.
The Tigers defence soaked up the Rangers pressure with Bailey Spooner
and James Preston both having one of their best games of the season.
In the Tigers goal, Sam Burton exuded confidence and made a number of
brave diving saves on the edge of the area to limit the goal scoring
opportunities for Rangers.
13 minutes into the 2nd half a great cross from Josh Gillett
was flicked into the Rangers goal by Ryan Forrest to level the score.
Ten minutes later Tigers took the lead from a thunderous free kick from
Ryan Forrest. As the Tigers continued to look for the 3rd
goal that would have put the game beyond doubt, Rangers pushed forward
in search of the equaliser. When the final whistle blew the Tigers were
jubilant, as they knew they had progressed to the quarter finals and
maintained their 7 game unbeaten run. The

Whitestar Tigers 2 v 2 Costello Wolves Before
this match all the players, managers and supporters held a minutes
applause to celebrate the life of Geoff Burnett, one of the Tigers’
sponsors who had died suddenly a few days before. The
first half was relatively even, but very few clear cut opportunities
were created and neither side was able to dominate for any length of
time. The opening goal came after 15 minutes, when some excellent
build-up play and passing football was finished off by Nathan Maltby to
put Costello 1-0 up. Tigers pressed for the equaliser, and Toby Brown
came close with a good header just over the bar. On 39 minutes the
referee awarded Costello a penalty and Bobby Nasar scored to put
Costello 2-0 up. The Tigers kept their heads up and showed their
fighting spirit when Ryan Forrest scored from an Ashton Needley corner.
This was a crucial time to score and gave the Tigers belief that they
could get back into the game. In
the 2nd half the Tigers dominated most of the play in search
of an equaliser. Joe Jowsey, Connor Spence and Simon Bromwich all
came close, but they were unable to find the elusive goal. The
relentless pressure from the Tigers on the Costello defence did win a
number of corners and it was from one of these corners that Matthew
Minshall scored the well-deserved equaliser. Following the equaliser,
both sides renewed their efforts in search of a winner, but both
defences remained strong and neither side could make the breakthrough. The
Tigers now remain unbeaten in 6 games. The

Whitestar Tigers 6 v 2 Willerby Wanderers The
Tigers recorded their 4th successive victory, but at times
they made hard work of it. Tigers
got off to a bright start with Ashton Needley linking up well with Joe
Jowsey who made some penetrating runs down the left wing. The
opening goal came when a shot from Jowsey was initially saved by the
Willerby keeper, but Connor Spence was on hand to run in and bang the
loose ball into the back of the net. The
Tigers paid the price for lapses in concentration when a few minutes
later Willerby broke through the Tigers defence to equalise. This was a
wake up call to the Tigers, and it was from another Jowsey shot and
another loose ball that Ryan Forrest was able to shoot home for his
first and the Tiger’s second. Tigers
continued to pressure the Willerby defence, but the Willerby keeper was
on excellent form. On 32 minutes a well-taken free kick from Matthew
Minshall was superbly volleyed home by Alex Fleeman who was in a great
position, to give the Tigers a 3:1 lead. However,
Willerby kept their heads up and again beat the Tigers defence to pull
the score back to 3:2 going into the break. In
the 2nd half the Tigers dominated much of the possession and
continued to pressure. Ashton Needley’s superbly struck corners
created problems for the Willerby defence, and only a succession of
brave saves from the Willerby keeper prevented the Tigers from scoring. Eventually
the Willerby keeper was beaten when a Minshall header into the box
was pounced on by Forrest to give the Tigers a 4:2 lead. Towards
the end of the game a determined run by Spence and a well-placed cross
was poked home by Forrest for his hat- trick. Spence scored his 2nd
goal and Tigers sixth when a cross from Simon Bromwich was fired into
the back of the net by Spence. The
Tigers man of the match was Alex Fleeman, and Ashton Needley was the
Coaches player of the week. Beverley

Rangers Blues 2 : 3 Beverley Whitestar Tigers Tigers
fight back After
conceding 2 penalties in the first 10 minutes, the Tigers roared back
into the game to record their 3rd successive victory. Rangers
started the strongest, putting the Tigers defence under immediate
pressure. Rangers won 2 penalties early on, and despite Sam Burton
in the Tigers goal getting close, he was unable to stop either of them.
This 2 goal deficit spurred the Tigers into action, and they started to
play the good passing football they are capable off. In
the 2nd half Tigers continued to push forward in search of
the equaliser. It was worth waiting for. Following a
well-timed run by Josh Gillett, Connor Spence picked up on the ball on
the edge of the box, dribbled through the Rangers defence to reach the
by-line, cut back in to go round the keeper, and struck the ball into
the right-hand side of the net to score the deserved equaliser. A
minute later Simon Bromwich got the reward for all his hard work, when
his fantastic shot left the Rangers keeper no chance and gave the Tigers
a deserved lead for the first time in the game. Rangers
tried to get back into the match, but the Tigers defence was able to
repulse their attacks, with Bailey Spooner having an outstanding game on
the left-hand side. In
the final minutes Rangers pushed everyone forward in search of an
equaliser, but they were unable to break down an increasingly confident
and resolute Tigers defence. The
Tigers man of the match was Connor Spence, and Beverley

Whitestar Tigers 3 v 2 Anlaby Road Rangers In
a close and evenly fought game the Tigers managed to edge a deserved
victory. The first 10 minutes or so were relatively even, with
both sides creating a number of chances. A great run and shot from
Connor Spence was saved by the Anlaby keeper. Anlaby’s
Adam Brocklebank was in great form and he was unlucky to see his
screamer of a shot hit the bar. The
opening goal followed some superb running from Joe Jowsey, and his
well-placed cross was slotted home by Connor Spence to give the Tigers a
1 nil lead Anlaby
fought back and the equalised on 25 minutes. In
the 2nd half both teams continued to play good attacking
football. Ryan Forrest and Joe Jowsey both had shots on goal.
The breakthrough for the Tigers came when Ryan Forrest found himself in
a superb position on the left wing, and his cracking shot left the
Anlaby keeper no chance. A couple of minutes later Forrest
broke through the Anlaby defence to score his 2nd and the
Tigers 3rd. Both teams continued to create
opportunities and the Tigers defence was continually tested, but
marshalled by Alex Fleeman and with Bailey Spooner and James Preston in
support, the Tigers defence stood firm. Anlaby
pulled a goal back with only a few minutes of normal time left.
From then on it was all down to the Tigers holding onto a deserved lead
as the injury time was played out. The
Tigers man of the match was Ryan Forrest, and Alex Fleeman was the
Coaches player of the week. Beverley

Whitestar Tigers 2 v 1 Batemans If
a week is a long time in politics, then 2 weeks is a lifetime in
football - Having been beaten 5: 1 in the opening game of the season
only 2 weeks ago, the Tigers were determined to take revenge in this
return fixture. With Matthew Minshall back in the centre of defence and
Alex Fleeman continuing his great start to the season, the Tigers looked
a more confident and balanced team. They created a number of chances in
the first half. Simon Bromwich, Conner Spence and The
Tigers started the 2nd half determined to get back into the
game. They won a penalty
after 9 minutes, but the Batemans keeper was able to deny the Tigers.
However, the Tigers never allowed their heads to drop, and on 30
minutes Ashton Needley headed home to draw level.
On
35 minutes Tigers won a free kick inside their own half and
Matthew Minshall hammered the ball into the back of the net to the
opposition’s amazement and the Tigers delight. Batemans
tried to get the equaliser, but it was Tigers who were creating the
chances, and Joe Jowesy hit the cross bar in the final minute. All the
Tigers players put in great performances, and they deserve to feel very
proud of their overall team performance and the high levels of effort
and determination they displayed. The
Tigers man of the match was Ashton Needley, and Alex Fleeman was the
Coaches player of the week. Beverley

Whitestar Tigers 2 v 2
This
is the fifth consecutive season that these 2 Tigers teams have met in the
Drypool league, and the games between them have always been tight. This
game proved to be no exception, and it was close from the start, with
neither team having many clear chances.
Matthew Minshall’s return strengthened the Whitestar Tigers
defence, and Joe Jowsey, James Preston and Connor Spence all linked up
well for the Tigers, but they could not find the breakthrough goal. Just
before half time first blood went to the North Cave Tigers, when a
well-taken corner was headed home. The
Whitestar Tigers struck back as soon as the 2nd half started
when a header into the box from Cave
went into the lead again to make it 2:1, but the Whitestar Tigers kept
their heads up and fought back. Their
reward came when Matthew Minshall struck home from a rebounded corner. The
Tigers man of the match was James Preston, and Connor Spence was the
Coaches player of the week. Beverley

18 September 2011 Batemans
5 v 1 Beverley Whitestar
Tigers Tigers
got their league season off to a dream start when Joe Jowsey hammered the
ball into the top right hand corner of the Batemans goal after 10 minutes.
Tigers
continued to play some good football, with Connor Spence, Ashton Needley
and Jowsey all putting pressure on the Batemans defence. However, Batemans
gradually worked themselves into the game and scored an equaliser with a
superb lob that left the Tigers keeper little chance. Tigers
absorbed the increased pressure from Batemans well, but just before Half
time, Batemans added a 2nd. Early
in the 2nd half Batemans scored from a penalty and then added 2
more for a 5:1 victory. In the
2nd half Josh Gillett made his debut for the Tigers, and he put
in a strong performance on the left wing. The
Tigers man of the match was Connor Spence, and Sam Richman was the Coaches
player of the week. Beverley

11 September 2011. Knock out
CUP Hedon
Rangers 8 v 0 Beverley Whitestar Tigers Due
to injuries the Tigers struggled to start the game with 11 fit players, so
it was always going to be a tough game against a well-established Myton
League side. So it proved, and Rangers attacked hard from the outset, but
the Tigers defence held firm. For
the Tigers, James Preston, Joe Jowsey and Connor Spence all pushed
forward, but the Tigers were unable to create any clear cut opportunities. Rangers
finally made the breakthrough after 20 minutes, and they added 2 more
before half time to give them a 3 nil lead. Tigers
still believed they could get something from the game, but 2 quick goals
for Rangers after the re-start and an injury that reduced Tigers to 10
men, added to the pressure. To their credit, Tigers never let their heads
drop throughout the match, but they were up against a Rangers team who all
looked very comfortable on the ball. Rangers
added 3 more to give them a convincing 8-0 win.
The
Tigers man of the match was Sam Burton who made some brave saves. Beverley
